The extensive Rohde & Schwarz test portfolio for LTE supports both LTE TDD and FDD mode.
TD-LTE Specific Test Solutions
First commercial LTE services started at the end of 2009 and since then LTE deployment has continued to grow rapidly. LTE is designed to substantially improve end-user throughputs, increase sector capacity and reduce user plane latency. Spectrum is the single most important resource for telecommunication voice and mobile broadband service, which is finite and limited. FDD LTE uses paired spectrum allocation, one band for uplink and one band for downlink operation. TD-LTE uses a different approach, a single frequency band sharing the channel between transmission and reception, spacing them apart in the time domain. Since other TDD based technologies, including TD-SCDMA and WiMAX™, also have a migration path to LTE, combining FDD and TDD makes the scale and economy of the LTE ecosystem especially robust and attractive.
