Advanced Audio Coding (AAC)

AAC is a lossy compression method for digital audio data that was developed by the MPEG working group. It supports up to 48 channels with full bandwidth as well as additional channels for data and low frequency effects (LFE) in one stream. AAC is used in digital TV, online music sales, as well as for mobile audio players and game consoles.
