M3SR - Reprogrammable Digital Software Radio
With R&S M3SR starts a new era in Radiocommunications for Defence Applications. Conventional ground-based radio systems are backed up by different platforms and units for the various frequency ranges and applications. By contrast, the new radio generation of M3SR is based on a unique platform which offers multiband/multimode/multirole (M3) capabilities by means of different modules and software.
R&S M3SR is a reprogrammable Digital Software Radios optimized for Air Defence and MIL ATC as well as Navy and Maritime. It feautres a variety of standard system interfaces, civil 8.33 and 25 kHz channel spacing acc. ICAO specifications, dual guard receivers for 121.5 & 243 MHz, split-site operation, COMSEC with KY-58 and other devices, EPM (ECCM): SATURN / HAVE QUICK / SECOS, Over-the-air rekeying (OTAR) and zeroizing, voice, data and video communication and last but not least interoperability with legacy fixed-station and airborne radios.
For Navy and Maritime tasks M3SR offers different EPM (ECCM) methods, multiband features, small physical dimensions (3HU), integrated fast frequency hopping filter (option), UHF-DAMA waveform with ext. modem (option), interfaces for various links and dual guard receivers for 121.5 & 243 MHz as well as input for maritime Digital Selective Calling (DSC) code acc. to GMDSS.
R&S M3SR is an economic, highly flexible and future-proof radio generation for NATO and non-NATO tri-forces applications. It is designed as an advanced, reliable and dynamic communication platform to meet the joint tactical radio objective, and solves the interoperability need for stationary, mobile, ship-board and even special airborne communication scenarios.
All M3SR radios are based on a common M3-platform. M3SR stands for Multiband, Multimode und Multirole Surface Radio.
