High-performance, cost-effective and reliable up to 60 GHz

With the addition of the two new models R&S SMR 50 and R&S SMR 60, the Microwave Signal Generator R&S SMR family now covers the range from 10 MHz to 60 GHz while still providing an outstanding price/performance ratio. Its various options offer access to a wide field of applications in production and R&D, where the R&S SMR can be used as a synthesizer or complete signal generator. When equipped with the optional analog frequency and level sweep, the R&S SMR is an ideal tracking generator for scalar network analysis, and the internal IF upconverter allows the generation of vector-modulated signals up to 40 GHz.

This Microwave Signal Generator features a wide output frequency range from 10 MHz to 60 GHz with 0.1 Hz resolution, a high and precise output level, a high spectral purity, a fast setting time for frequency and level, an analog ramp sweep, IF upconversion, a low cost of ownership with a three-year calibration cycle, as well as a compact size (only 2 HU) and last but not least AM/SCAN, FM, ASK/FSK and pulse modulation.

The Microwave Signal Generator R&S SMR family comprises four basic models designed as CW generators with pulse modulation capability. The four models have a common lower frequency limit of 1 GHz and provide frequency coverage up to 20 GHz, 27 GHz, 30 GHz and 40 GHz. The lower limit can be expanded to 10 MHz by the optional Frequency Extension 0.01 GHz to 1 GHz.

High-precision output level Microwave signal generators are frequently used for calibrating test receivers. This task calls for a highly accurate and stable output level settable with high reso-lution. This is ensured by a high-precision, frequency-response-compensated level control for levels higher than -20 dBm. The setting range can be extended to -130 dB with the optional RF Attenuator SMR-B15 or SMR-B17.
