Rohde & Schwarz brings mobile television to Finland

Sep 26, 2006 - Rohde & Schwarz has achieved another success in the establishment of DVB-H networks. The company will supply DVB-H transmitters to the Finnish network operator and license holder Digita Oy.

Digita Oy already operates three multiplexes for its digital terrestrial broadcasting network (DVB-T). A multiplex for DVB-H is to be installed this year, and a second one is to follow by 2009. Due to previous positive experience in network setup and long-term cooperation with Rohde & Schwarz, Digita Oy decided to base the DVB-H network on Rohde & Schwarz equipment.

Digita Oy is the leading commercial distributor of radio and television services in Finland. The company now also offers mobile TV. Finland is thus the second country in Europe besides Italy to have a commercial DVB-H network. The network is scheduled to be put into operation on December 1, 2006, in the metropolitan areas of Helsinki, Turku and Oulu. Further regions are to follow in 2007, which means that additional transmitters will be required.
