CMU200: Fixed all one/zero still is random

Question:

Setting the CMU200 in signaling mode to
"Network--> Bit Stream --> fixed All One (or All Zero)
should force the CMU200 to transmit a fixed pattern. However, a spectrum analyzer still shows a signal that is
modulated by a random pattern.

Answer:

The bit pattern "All 0" or "All 1" applies to the payload only. The CRC checksum is added during channel coding.
After convolutional coding the signal looks as if it were modulated by a pseudo random bit pattern.

A fixed pattern including training sequence is only available in the non-signaling mode.
