ETL:   FAQ overview

Question: When making TV coverage measurements in line with ITU/CCIR standards, do we have to use
a 10 m antenna tower?

Answer: For CCIR-compliant "stationary" measurements (such as of analog UHF), a directional antenna is normally used on a tower at 10 m above ground.
This method is not suitable for mobile standards.
For measurements in line with mobile standards such as DVB-T/H, an omnidirectional antenna such as our
R&S
®TSMDVB-Z1 or -Z2 is used. This antenna is fixed directly on the roof of the measurement vehicle
(2 m above ground). Such a system is used for DVB-T/H coverage measurements in cities or rural areas.

However, the equipment to be employed for ITU/CCIR-compliant measurements always depends on the customer’s specific measurement scenario. For this reason, we are unfortunately not in a position to provide you with general advice.
