Monitoring the radio spectrum is of equally high importance for civil regulatory authorities, military and commercial network operators. Detecting the presence of an interference or an unauthorized transmitter is often only the first step: The position of the source of an emission is of great interest, too.

This seminar introduces the participants to the basics of radio direction finding and radiolocation and explains common direction finding technologies as well as the required equipment. In practical exercises the participant learns the handling and operation of the instruments. A live demonstration of the radio direction finding system at the Rohde & Schwarz campus in Munich gives the participant an impression of the operation of a radio monitoring and radiolocation system.
