Doherty amplifier - measurement-aided development

Webinar: Doherty amplifier - measurement-aided development

This webinar introduces the Doherty amplifier as a special case of the “balanced” amplifier genre. We will discuss design & test challenges and show implementation variants that make it possible to increase output power and improve efficiency.

Using a dual input Doherty measurement setup as a reference, we will describe a measurement-aided design method that can significantly reduce the time to market. Key topics such as calibration, linear and nonlinear measurements, and analysis round out the pragmatic approach.

Speaker

Gareth joined Rohde & Schwarz in 2015, as a Senior Expert. His topics of interest include measurement-aided design methodologies for high efficacy RFFE (Radio Frequency Front Ends), supra-clock rate vector signal generation and analysis (e.g. higher bandwidth than clocking rates of ADC/DACs.), and vector signal calibration methods. Until joining R&S, he worked various engineering and management roles, in different industries, for major companies incl. Ericsson, Huawei, TriQuint (now Qorvo), Andrew Corporation (now Commscope) and ZTE. To date, he is the primary named on 7 granted patents. He graduated from the University of Leeds in 1994 with an Honours degree in Electronic & Electrical Engineering.
