Subject

The usage of GSM, UMTS (WCDMA) and LTE radio modules to control industrial processes is increasing. Also in automotive industry, these modules are implemented in an increasing number of vehicles as part of automatic emergency call systems or vehicle tracking systems.

Therefore, more and more engineers and technicians with limited experience in mobile communication technology have to operate and test GSM, UMTS & LTE mobile stations. In most cases, basic knowledge about these radio access technologies is sufficient to operate and test the RF modules, because turnkey modules are used.

This seminar focuses on the air interface fundamentals of the cellular radio access technologies GSM, UMTS (WCDMA) & LTE. The basic terms and parameters are explained as well as the connection set-up procedures. The Rohde & Schwarz radio communication tester R&S®CMW500 is used to demonstrate the operation and test of the mobile stations.
