Webinar modules

Module 1: 5G NR network deployment is now - let´s test

With 5G NR network rollout underway around the globe, the challenge for operators is to overcome the challenge of a more demanding and complex air interface and deliver the commercial and technical benefits offered by 5G. This module considers how to ensure efficient and predictable 5G NR rollout, identifies the technical fundamentals and defines a test approach to deliver the required network performance.

In this webinar, you will learn about:

  • The regional 5G frequency situation
  • Specifics of 5G NR technology and their impact on network testing
  • The main challenges of 5G NR network rollout
  • 5G NR measurement results from an early pre-commercial field trial
  • World’s first commercial 5G NR network measurement solution

Module 2: Prepare your spectrum for 5G deployment

The roll out of 5G has initiated a worldwide deployment in an unknown radio environment where unwanted transmitters can degrade end user QoE and in some cases cause outages of critical services. Prior to deployment, operators need to ensure the radio environment is free from interference by conducting spectral clearance and interference hunting. This module defines the particular challenges of 5G NR, highlights a robust approach to prepare the spectrum and shares real field data at 3.5GHz and 28GHz.

In this webinar, you will learn about:

  • The particular demands of 5G NR
  • 5G spectrum clearance and interference hunting
  • Test equipment capabilities
  • Real field measurements results at FR1 and FR2

Module 3: Ensure successful 5G site testing and acceptance

This webinar uses a real case study from the first pervasive 5G network in Europe to examine the importance of site acceptance testing, identify the various deployment scenarios and define an efficient methodology to test the associated KPIs to ensure delivery of QoE to the 5G end user. Learn how to overcome the challenges of verifying correct site installation such as connectivity, a diverse set of deployment scenarios, new performance KPIs and legacy technology considerations.

In this webinar, you will learn about:

  • 5G site acceptance sencarios
  • Essential KPIs
  • Test techniques using state of the art tools
  • Real 5G field measurements results

Module 4: 5G network quality validation

After the hype, expectation and performance objectives of 5G NR, what is the reality of eMBB being delivered to subscribers today and how will it evolve to URLLC and mMTC? This module uses real measurements from the first commercial deployments of 5G to analyze the true performance and quality of 5G networks, examine its ability to support defined use cases and take a forward look to the emergence of a more reactive, reliable and higher capacity network able to support demanding use cases.

In this webinar, you will learn about:

  • 5G deployment status and challenges
  • Case study from field measurements
  • The reality of eMBB
  • Future look to URLLC and mMTC
  • How to test lower latency, higher capacity, beamforming, standalone mode and at new frequencies
  • Learnings and conclusions

Our experts

Expert Arnd Sibila

Arnd Sibila

“I see myself as a technical consultant”, says Arnd Sibila, Technology Marketing Manager. With a master’s degree in electrical engineering and more than 25 years of experience in the wireless communication industry, he is passionate about sharing his expertise on all radio-related technology topics from 2G to 5G to the latest applications, for example, video streaming. Arnd thrives on engagement. Holding seminars, leading training sessions, or giving presentations, Arnd always finds himself deep in discussion with customers. He’s eager to understand their challenges and offer advice and solutions to get more value out of a network.

Expert Manuel Mielke

Manuel Mielke

Manuel Mielke discovered his passion for radio receivers while sitting in a Vodafone drive test van for several months, running network scans with scanners from Rohde & Schwarz. This was during his studies at the University of Applied Sciences in Regensburg, Germany. Today – an electrical engineering degree with a major in wireless communications and a stint at antenna specialist Kathrein later – Manuel finds himself “driving” the R&S scanners: as Product Manager Drive Test Scanners, he defines and shapes their specifications to help customers introduce new radio network technologies and features quickly and efficiently.

Expert Dr. Michael Lorenz

Dr. Michael Lorenz

Michael Lorenz's ambition is to be a pioneer. The Senior Applications Engineer is always keen to put his hands on the latest technologies and features. When Michael entered the field of mobile communications 15 years ago, Vodafone Germany had just implemented its first 3G test network. After many fundamental research and optimization projects, the technical adventurer with a PhD in physics moved on to Vodafone Group, where he shared his expertise as a trainer in more than 20 markets. Stimulated more by the "why" than the "what", Michael sees himself playing with NB-IoT today and with 5G tomorrow.

Expert Paul Denisowski

Paul Denisowski

Paul Denisowski is an Applications Engineer at Rohde & Schwarz where he specializes in interference hunting, direction finding and mobile network testing. He has over 20 years of experience in test and measurement and has previously worked in both field and R&D positions at HP/Agilent, Fujitsu and Alcatel. Paul holds a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University and was a visiting lecturer at the Tokyo Institute of Technology.

Expert Peter Busch

Peter Busch

Peter has been working in the field of RF test & measurement for 24 years and has been involved in mobile network optimization from the beginning. He started his career as a service and application engineer in the German Rohde & Schwarz sales organization and then moved on to work in the Rohde & Schwarz system department, handling production test systems for mobile network equipment. He was also responsible for sales in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia. Peter holds a graduate engineering degree in communications technology from the Hamburg University of Applied Science.

Expert Simon Allemann

Simon Allemann

Simon Allemann has been in the business for more than 15 years. He began his career as a software engineer; today, he is Product Manager for our QualiPoc walk test and service quality monitoring solutions, including QualiPoc, SmartBenchmarker, and SmartMonitor. He defines, shapes, and markets what he’s passionate and curious about: smartphone-based mobile network testing solutions. In his posts, Simon lets readers in on the benefits of using today’s smartphones to test tomorrow’s technologies.
