As part of the collaborative Capability Delivery & Sustainment (CD&S) engineering team, deliver high quality and high reliability integrated communications system solutions within a Systems Engineering framework to meet project requirements. The Design Services Integration Team Manager functionally manages the Design Services & Integration Team and individually provides Professional Engineering Services within projects in technical domains of expertise.

Your tasks

  • Functional Management Responsibilities
  • Functionally manage the Design Services & Integration Team and functional sub-teams through Functional Team Leads.
  • Mentoring of Functional Team Leads.
  • The identification of training and development needs for the Design Services & Integration Team and reporting these to the Head of Engineering & Technology to inform training and development plans.
  • Support the function with performance & development reviews for the Design Services & Integration Team.
  • Support the function with resource planning, allocation & deployment of Design Services & Integration Team resources into projects.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of Design & Integration processes from the Engineering Management System.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement within the Design Services & Integration Team Professional Engineering Services
  • Be a Leading Practitioner in the provision of Design & Integration Services within the technical domains of expertise.
  • Be a Leading Practitioner in the development, execution and management of the design and systems integration activities for communication systems. This includes the activities associated with detailed design, set to work, integration testing and deployment.
  • Facilitate the development of the project specific design & integration processes and aligning them to the Engineering Management System and Project requirements.
  • Identify potential issues, manage risk, and develop mitigation plans to ensure successful integration.
  • Communicate effectively with management and other stakeholders, providing regular updates on progress, issues, and risks.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering team members.
  • Be accountable for ensuring that required engineering products and activities are produced: In accordance with the approved procedures, To required specifications and quality standards, To schedule, To meet or exceed customer needs and expectations.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including systems engineering, product management, supply chain, manufacturing, assembly, quality assurance, and operations, to ensure seamless integration and delivery of the communication systems. Additional Duties
  • Support the development of Bid and Tender proposals as required.

Your qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline preferably in Electrical/Electronics/Communications/Mechatronics
  • Extensive experience in Electronic Systems Integration, Communications Systems Engineering or similar role.
  • Proven experience in a team management role, preferably in a defence communications project.
  • Eligible to apply and obtain registration with the National Engineering Register (NER).
  • Eligible to apply and obtain registration with the relevant state engineering authority.
