Radar sensors make a significant contribution towards the safety of modern automobiles. This no longer applies only to the luxury class, but increasingly to all vehicles. Verification that these radar sensors are functioning correctly and with the specified accuracy is a challenging task and requires the use of modern RF test equipment. The growing number of radar sensors in road traffic can lead to mutual interference. Simulators provide the possibility of recreating such scenarios in the laboratory.

This seminar explains the theoretical principles of radar technology as well as the practical application of modern test equipment. Participants use signal generators and signal analyzers to test the function blocks and components of the radar sensor. They learn methods for testing antennas and radomes. With the target simulator, participants simulate scenarios with multiple echoes and interference signals. In practical examples, participants practice solving challenging simulation and measurement tasks. In doing so, they learn how to use test instruments and measurement functions confidently and efficiently.
