NRT2 / NRP2 / NRX relative analog readout

Question

Is it possible to have a relative analog readout on the power meters?

I want to stabilize the output power of my amplifier in a leveling loop.

Answer

The NRT2 Power Reflection Meter as well as the NRP2 and NRX Power Meters allow to use the BNC rear plugs Out1 / Out2 to generate an output voltage e.g. in relation to the actual input power.
There are some more modes available on those ports like Pass / Fail, Limit Violation, Trigger out, etc.
In this knowledge article we only cover the (forward) analog out. However it is important to mention, because these ports have several functions, but only one of these functions can be used at the same time on each port.

How to activate this analog out mode?

NRT2:

  • Press [SYSTEM]
  • Click on the I/O field
  • Choose the desired output port
  • Set the port to "Forward analog out"
  • Define the desired levels to be mapped in the voltage range from 0 to 3V DC
  • The analog out is present from this moment on

NRP2:

  • Press [MENU]
  • Press (I/O...)
  • Change the Tab to the desired outout port (Options are different on both ports)
  • Choose the window for the corresponding sensor
  • Define the desired levels to be mapped in the voltage range from 0 to 3V DC
  • The analog out is present from this moment on

NRX:

  • Press [SYSTEM]
  • Click on the I/O field
  • Select the desired output port
  • Choose the adequate measurement (according to your sensor port)
  • Define the desired levels to be mapped in the voltage range from 0 to 2.5V DC
  • The analog out is present from this moment on

This mode can also be activated and adjusted via remote control.
