Combined PQA and RF Test System for Video over LTE Testing

Presented at GSMA MWC 2012

At the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona, Rohde & Schwarz presented the R&S®TS8980 test system for testing the quality of video applications on LTE user equipment under realistic RF conditions. The test setup is based on the R&S®CMW-PQA (performance quality analysis) test platform for mobile phone to base station end-to-end testing and consists of the R&S®CMW500 wideband radio communication tester, which simulates a complete mobile network, and the R&S®AMU200A, which generates the required fading signals. The R&S®VTE video analyzer performs difference picture analysis for detecting and objectively analyzing degradations in a mobile device's decoded video signal. Video content is output to the R&S®VTE over the mobile device's MHL interface. This test setup allows HD video transmissions under fading conditions to be overlayed with IP traffic impairments, for example.
