The R&S®PKU100 is a solid-state power amplifier for the Ku band with a peak power of 400 W. It features top notch efficiency in an extremely compact design. The powerful optional adaptive linearization improves RF parameters in a new and unique manner. This amplifier combines the advantages of solid-state and tube-based amplifiers.

Adaptive linearization | Rohde & Schwarz

Adaptive linearization

The amplifier is the first of its kind worldwide. It features optional adaptive linearization at the RF level to provide a previously unattainable spectral purity. The linearization changes the input signal and optimally compensates the amplifier’s nonlinearities, significantly increasing the signal quality to the satellite, both inside and outside the wanted signal’s bandwidth.

Power efficiency comparable to TWTA

The R&S®PKU100 Ku-band amplifier features outstanding efficiency – even compared with tube amplifiers. The peak efficiency, i.e. the efficiency of the entire amplifier, is > 20 %. It is calculated from the ratio of the input power to the output power.

Flexible power suppy possibilities | Rohde & Schwarz

Flexible power supply possibilities

Power supply redundancy is offered as an option. The power supplies can be fed individually from different power networks. If one power network or power supply fails, the R&S®PKU100 continues to run at full power without interruption. Defective power supplies can be hot swapped quickly and easily without interrupting operation. The R&S®PKU100 can also be operated at 48 V DC.

Compact & lightweight | Rohde & Schwarz

Compact and lightweight

The 400 W indoor model with its power supply weighs just 18.3 kg, half the weight of existing solid-state amplifiers on the market. It fits into a 3 HU rack space and draws no more than 6.5 A from a 230 V AC network.
