  • R&S®NRP-Z81, R&S®NRP-Z85, R&S®NRP-Z86 Operating Manual

Describes all instrument functions and remote control commands, as well as measurement and programming examples.

  • Using R&S®NRP-Z Power Sensors with Android Handheld Devices

This application note describes how to connect and use the highly popular R&S®NRP-Z family of USB SMART power sensors with the Android application (app): R&S®Power Viewer Mobile for mobile devices running on Android 4.0 operating systems. Multi-path diode and wideband power sensors as well as thermal R&S®NRP-Z sensors are supported. The app "R&S®Power Viewer Mobile" is available on Google Play.

  • CDMA2000® Base Station Test with R&S Equipment

This Application Note describes measurements compliant with the cdma2000® base station standard described in 3GPP2 C.S0010 / TIA/EIA-97 / ARIB STD-T64-C.S0010. The primary focus is on solutions for generating and analyzing cdma2000® signals. The special characteristics that make the selected signal generators and signal analyzers eminently suitable for this purpose are detailed, and remote control programming is demonstrated by a free of charge program.

  • Aeronautical radio navigation measurement solutions

This application note highlights various aeronautical radio navigation signals such as VHF omnidirectional radio range (VOR), instrument landing system (ILS) for glide slope (GS) and localizer (LLZ), as well as marker beacon (MB). Rohde & Schwarz test and measurement solutions for avionics navigation equipment are introduced based on application scenarios, including calibration, research and development, field tests, and transceiver testing.

  • Fast Scalar Network Analysis Using a Signal Generator and a Power Meter

This document presents a simple procedure for network analysis that is more cost-effective than the use of scalar network analyzers. It allows the accurate measurement of the transmission characteristics of filters, amplifiers and frequency converters over a large frequency and dynamic range. In order to reach very high measurement speeds, Rohde & Schwarz signal generators are operated in 'List Mode', and Rohde & Schwarz power meters are operated in 'Buffered Mode.' The required programming for the signal generator and the power meter is illustrated by excerpts from a Visual Basic program which is available, free of charge, upon request.

  • R&S®NRP-Z Power Sensor Programming Guide

The R&S®NRP-Z power sensors from Rohde & Schwarz represent the latest in power measurement technology. They offer all the functionality of conventional power meters, and more, within the small housing of a power sensor. This application note serves as a coding guide for situations in which the R&S®NRP-Z power sensors are to be used in custom test and measurement software.

  • RF Level Measurement Uncertainties with the Measuring Receiver R&S®FSMR

Measurement uncertainties that occur when the R&S FSMR measuring receiver is used to calibrate RF levels are described and quantified in this application note. Several Excel spreadsheets are included. They can be used to simplify calculation of the uncertainty for various configurations.

  • Hints for Fast and Accurate Testing of GSM/EDGE Mobile Phone Power Amplifiers

Short measurement time in conjunction with high accuracy and repeatability of results are essential for efficient testing of mobile phone power amplifiers. Power Meter R&S®NRP, Signal Generator R&S®SMIQ, Spectrum Analyzers R&S®FSP/FSU/FSQ and Power Supply R&S®NGMO2 offer optimum characteristics such as high accuracy, fast settling speed and short measurement time in programmed mode. This application note concentrates on testing GSM/EDGE mobile power amplifiers and shows typical test setups and programming examples for Signal Generator R&S®SMIQ and Spectrum Analyzer R&S®FSP/FSU/FSQ, benchmark numbers and repeatability results.

  • Radar Educational Videos

Welcome to our short video tutorials on how to test radars using Rohde & Schwarz test equipment. Access to most information about radar is pretty restricted, as many radar applications are military or secretive industrial research. To show you some basic Radar tests we have created RADAR demo tools, which functions at a frequency of 2.45 GHz, which is in the unlicensed 2.4 GHz Industrial, Scientific and Medical band. So we can even perform our tests in unshielded rooms. The frequencies are also used by radar operating in the ITU "S"-band from 2.3 to 2.5 GHz for air traffic control, weather and marine radar. The videos are suitable for 'from-the-scratch' introduction of R&S RADAR test equipment. They can also be used for plain introduction to the RADAR principle.

  • Power boost

Power boostHighest measurement accuracy, speed and dynamic range have always been thedistinguishing features of Rohde & Schwarz power meters. But now a new generationshows that it can get even better. News from Rohde & Schwarz article 22 These next generation power sensors are extremely contact-friendly. They can be operated via the optional R&S®NRP2 base unit as well as via their USB port on a PC
