Coverage Measurements

Coverage measurements are used in several phases for broadcast services and for mobile communication networks. To verify calculated and simulated coverage of transmitters that are in planning and to avoid interference, it is necessary to monitor the spectrum. Exact measurements enable radio services and stations to coexist compatibly. This ultimately enables interference-free telecommunication services in dense frequency bands and shared channels.

Depending on the terrain data that is used in propagation simulation tools and on the real environment, the actual signal quality can differ significantly from the calculated values.

Measurements are required to verify the field-strength values over a large area. The results are recorded along with the geographical coordinates, which provides a basis for efficient evaluation on a digital map.
