BSI grants approval for software-based R&S®Trusted VPN Client from Rohde & Schwarz Cybersecurity

The German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) grants approval up to classification level VS-NfD (RESTRICTED), NATO RESTRICTED and EU RESTRICTED (national) for the new, software-based R&S Trusted VPN Client by IT security expert Rohde & Schwarz Cybersecurity. With the first software-only VPN client approved by the BSI, users can work in a secure and encrypted mobile environment while complying with the high security requirements of German federal authorities.

Munich, November 12, 2020 - Virtual Private Networks (VPN) are indispensable in an increasingly connected work environment where companies and public authorities work from offices around the world. Only with an encrypted VPN connection, employees can securely access corporate networks and resources.

With R&S Trusted VPN Client, IT security expert Rohde & Schwarz Cybersecurity facilitates encrypted, mobile work despite VS-NfD (RESTRICTED) requirements. The solution protects the network communication of a client platform (Windows laptop or tablet) with a government or corporate network over an untrusted network such as the internet. R&S Trusted VPN Client is software-based and requires no additional hardware, meaning that users can work on the move at the airport, from home office or from other public spaces without any restrictions. The "Always On" mode provides additional security. Users are always protected in untrusted networks. Thanks to its high scalability, R&S Trusted VPN Client can be individually adapted to changing work requirements at any time.

R&S Trusted VPN Client implements a zero-trust VPN solution that does not require trust in potentially insecure components such as an operating system. The so-called red-black separation (network separation between red classified data and black Internet traffic) takes place outside the operating system, so that even in the event of vulnerabilities and security flaws in the operating system, a leakage of classified data can be prevented.
