Mixed operation of R&S xx8000 and Tx9 transmitters

Description

Possible configurations to operate R&S transmitters of xx8000 and Tx9 series within one system

Resolution

Under specific conditions, it may be necessary to operate the transmitter of the series xx8000 and Tx9 or parts thereof within a system.

The following list shows potential customer requirements in terms of mixed operation and a statement about the possibilities (+) / limitations (-):

1. An existing xx8000 transmitter with NetCCU800 shall be upgraded with new TCE900 exciter.

Possibilities (+)

  • xx8000 series transmitters (high power & medium power) are compatible with both, Sx800/801 exciters and TCE900 exciters.
  • A specific retrofit kit is available to replace Sx800/801 exciters with TCE900.

2. An existing xx8000 (n+1) system shall be extended by a new Tx9 main transmitter.

Possibilities (+)

  • Tx9 transmitters can be integrated as main transmitters into an existing (n+1) system of transmitters xx8000 series. They have to be configured in the NetCCU800 (NSU) as so-called "Simple Tx" via SNMP.

3. An existing xx8000 series transmitter shall be upgraded into a (n+1) system with a Tx9 as the backup transmitter and the TCE900 as the system controller.

Limitations (-)

  • Tx9 systems with a TCE900 as (n+1) system controller are not compatible with transmitters of the xx8000 series.

4. An existing Tx9 (n+1) system shall be extended by an older xx8000 main transmitter.

Limitations (-)

  • Tx9 systems with a TCE900 as (n+1) system controller are not compatible with transmitters of the xx8000 series.

5. An existing (n+1) system shall handle different TV standards within one system.

Possibilities (+)

  • Tx9 (n+1) system support mixed TV standards (e.g. DVB-T & DVB-T2) within the system.

Limitations (-)

  • xx8000 (n+1) systems generally do not support mixed TV standards (e.g. DVB-T & DVB-T2) within the system.
