ELEKTRA Migration Tool does not convert EMC32 DeviceList file

Description

I am going to migrate EMC32 system in ELEKTRA using the Migration Tool. It seems the Migration Tool has a problem reading the DeviceList.

Resolution

Using Migration Tool with unzipped EMC32 backup file, DeviceList file is already known with Step 1, Select Source Application.

With step 2 you select Source Data File Path. From here, DeviceList file is displayed, but it will not be converted if selected. The tool does not continue.

Example:

The situation is that it is not needed to convert any EMC32 Device Lists. EMC32 Device List have not to be converted - in any case.

You are doing the Migration always from top to down. This does mean you have only to select the Template you want to convert. Migration Tool does automatically convert all items referring to this Template (Hardware, Setups, Transducers, Limits, ...). This does also include the Devices used for this Template. The Migration Tool automatically generates all necessary data to have an ELEKTRA Device List required for the Template. Because of this, there is no reason to migrate an DeviceList file.

So, after creating the EMC32 backup for migration, think always top to down. Migrating EMS32 Test Templates already includes knowledge of Hardware Setup, Device List including Signal Paths, Limit Lines and more. Migrate Templates in smaller bites and import data to ELEKTRA.
