EMC32 does not communicate with NRP2 using LAN interface, Error 2804

Question

We have installed our test system with EMC32 and all devices, but NRP2 can not be set to physical from EMC32 using LAN interface. However, all other devices are recognized by EMC32, only Power Meter NRP2 remains in simulation mode. Using CMD command "ping" we have access to NRP2. We already changed network cables and IP addresses, but without success.

Answer

At first, please make sure that NI-VISA and the NRP VXIpnp drivers are installed on your PC to be able to operate NRP2 with EMC32. You find these points described on the installation CD at points "Device Support" and "Requirements". If the VXIpnp driver is missing, please use Driver Installer Tool to install.

  • Supported probes:
    xx = 8, 18, 33, 40 50
  • NRPxxSN probes are supported via USB and LAN, use appropriate EMC32 device driver.
  • Install the following Drivers via the Driver Installer Tool:
    R&S rsnrpz VXIplug&play Driver, R&S NRPToolkit (only for USB)

If this will not solve the issue, check the remote interface settings. On NRP2, there are two methods of entering an IP address: VXI11 or Ethernet. From EMC32 Device List you can see, EMC32 does support VISA interface to control NRP2.

VISA library does support VXI11. Because of this, you have to activate VXI11 protocol on NRP2. Please select VXI11 on NRP2 to communicate with NRP2 using VISA. In addition, you should also make sure that the correct command set is selected (R&S NRP2).
