Subject

CISPR 11, CISPR 14-1, CISPR 15 and CISPR 32 (as well as their EN versions) commercial EMC standards govern the full treatment of measurement instrument uncertainty (MIU) in line with CISPR 16-4-2. And more EMC standards are on their way...

Assessing "MIU" is therefore mandatory for most EMC laboratories. Going through the uncertainty calculation also helps better understand the impact individual components can have on EMI measurements. The knowledge can then be used for targeted performance improvements.

This virtual course provides a step-by-step guide for performing uncertainty calculations for most the common EMI measurement setups.

Content

Measurement uncertainty basics:

  • Statistics
  • Probability distributions
  • Systematic errors versus uncertainties
  • Propagation of uncertainty

Treatment of uncertainties in EMC testing

Mismatch in RF&MW measurements

Corrections, transducer factors and related uncertainties

Interpreting information from various sources (data sheet, standards, calibration certificates, ...)

Step-by-step examples:

  • Conducted disturbance measurements at a mains port using an AMN
  • Radiated disturbance measurements at an OATS or in a SAC

Target Group

Target group: Engineers or technicians working in EMC laboratories
