Key Facts

Application Firmware R&S®FS-K40 adds phase noise measurement capability to the R&S®FSU and R&S®FSP spectrum analyzers and the R&S®FSQ signal analyzer and enables them to operate as signal source analyzers.

Phase noise measurements were previously handled by the R&S®FS-K4 software running on an external PC or on the analyzer's Windows XP operating system. The operator had to use an additional analyzer or switch between the analyzer mode and the operating system mode to apply phase noise measurements to a signal source. R&S®FS-K40 now makes the phase noise measurement option part of the analyzer firmware and can be started merely by pressing a hotkey.

All functions can be operated manually or programmed via GPIB.

  • Frequency range of the R&S®FSP: 9 kHz to 3/7/13/30/40 GHz
  • Frequency range of the R&S®FSU: 20 Hz to 67 GHz
  • Frequency range of the R&S®FSQ: 20 Hz to 3.6/8/26/40 GHz

The Windows XP operating system is required.

  • Verification of frequency and level
  • Evaluation lines for residual FM/PM and RMS jitter
