Introduction

At our Chemnitz site, Rohde & Schwarz develops innovative software and system solutions for test and measurement applications. Together with our teams in software development, signal processing and electrical engineering, we create high-performance instruments and applications that enable our customers to develop, test and analyze sophisticated electronic systems. As part of an international technology company with more than 16000 employees, we collaborate across locations to develop solutions that meet the highest standards of precision, performance and quality.

Tasks

  • You develop modern C++ software for controlling and integrating in-house hardware assemblies on embedded Linux systems, including hardware abstraction layers and device-specific components.
  • You bring up, debug and verify hardware at board and system level using tools such as JTAG, debuggers, logging and laboratory measurement equipment.
  • You develop embedded firmware for microcontrollers in bare-metal and RTOS environments and implement interfaces to hardware peripherals.
  • You design and implement device-level functionality and ensure a clean separation between hardware-related software, low-level control and application logic.
  • You define and implement interfaces between software, firmware, FPGA and hardware, including register maps, communication interfaces and data formats.
  • You develop test and diagnostic tools as well as automated unit and integration tests to support verification, validation and laboratory workflows.
  • You analyze and optimize the performance, stability and resource usage of hardware-related software components.
  • You apply shift-left principles by integrating testing, simulation, static analysis and automated checks early in the development process.
  • You use AI-assisted development tools to support prototyping, test generation and routine development tasks while ensuring that generated results are validated through established review and testing processes.
  • You work closely with interdisciplinary teams from software, FPGA, hardware and testing and document requirements, technical concepts and verification results.
