With their joint test solution, which combines both companies’ industry-leading capabilities, they performed the automated verification of a commercial O-RU provided by NEC according to both O-RAN and 3GPP pre-conformance specifications.

Rohde & Schwarz and VIAVI support European OTIC in Berlin for O-RAN conformance certificationThe European OTIC in Berlin at the i14y Lab finalized their first successful certification of an O-RAN radio unit according to O-RAN ALLIANCE. The i14y Lab has relied on the integrated solution for O-RU conformance testing by Rohde & Schwarz and VIAVI.
The new test solution consists of the R&S®RTP164 high-performance oscilloscope used as a measuring receiver, and the 5G analysis options of the R&S®VSE vector signal explorer software. R&S®VSE performs measurements in line with 3GPP specifications. The setup also enables MIMO-specific measurements and to flexibly compile the test results.

Towards 6G: Rohde & Schwarz showcases AI/ML-based neural receiver with NVIDIA at MWC BarcelonaWith research on the technology components for the future 6G wireless communication standard in full swing, the possibilities of an AI-native air interface for 6G also are being explored. Rohde & Schwarz, working with NVIDIA, is taking a step forward from simulations to implementing artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) in future 6G technology. At MWC Barcelona, the companies will present the industry’s first hardware-in-the-loop demonstration of a neural receiver, showing the achievable performance gains when using trained ML models compared to traditional signal processing.
The R&S®SGT100A SGMA RF source in combination with the R&S®VSE vector signal explorer software generates and analyses UL and DL NB-IoT signals in line with the latest 3GPP Release 13 specification.
The example shows an error vector magnitude (EVM) measurement on a two-channel 5.2 Gsample analog to digital converter from Texas Instruments using the R&S®SMW200A vector signal generator, the R&S®SMA100B RF and microwave analog signal generator and the R&S®VSE vector signal analysis software from Rohde & Schwarz.

Sivers Semiconductors and Rohde & Schwarz collaborate on testing 5G RF transceivers up to 71 GHzAs 5G networks are being rolled out globally, the evolution of the 5G NR standard continues. With Release 17, 3GPP will extend the frequency support of 5G NR mmWave bands into the unlicensed spectrum up to 71 GHz, a frequency band traditionally used by non-cellular standards like IEEE 802.11ad and 11ay. To address new testing challenges related to this bandwidth extension and to evaluate the performance of the latest generation RF transceiver chipsets, Rohde & Schwarz and Sivers Semiconductors teamed up to test RF transceivers for 5G NR up to 71 GHz.
