The quickly progressing integration in all areas of modern telecommunications requires above all the exact determination of the network parameters of geometrically small components and networks.

As symmetrical network structures possess certain advantages in comparison to asymmetrical structures, these are also used temporarily in the high frequency range. This is possible because the phenomena appearing in the practice can be analyzed with modern network analyzers. The seminar provides the fundamental calibration methods of modern network analyzers and a basic knowledge to the analysis of symmetrical networks. In the practical exercises different calibration procedures will be analyzed and typical measurement categories of symmetrical networks defined.

This seminar builds upon the introductory seminar for network analyzers and will be carried out as a combined theory-practice seminar.
