The R&S®CMXHEAD50 and its further enhanced version R&S®CMXHEAD50-Evo are the only remote radio heads for signaling that offer bi-directional testing across the entire 5G mmWave (FR2-1) frequency range, EVM performance down to 0.5% / -46 dB and additional low noise input ports for high dynamic range. All within the most compact and power saving hardware set in their class. Four R&S®CMXHEAD50 or -Evo units can be combined to a high performance test solution with the active mmWave front-end R&S®CMX-RF42E. This solution enables advanced scenarios such as interband carrier aggregation (e.g. aggregated carriers at 28 GHz and 39 GHz).

The R&S®CMXHEAD50-Evo reaches impressive EVM levels without additional external equipment. And it achieves this across a wide power range and along the entire frequency range from 21.84 GHz to 50.2 GHz. The new integrated dual-LO board is powered by two new high-class synthesizers with ultra low phase noise. The new synthesizers feed the (still accessible) external LO input ports - bringing EVM to a new level. This allows cutting-edge RF measurements for next generation wireless product designs.

Wide dynamic range with low-noise RX port

Optimized for low power levels

The standard TX and RX ports already cover a wide range of power levels, but the new low-noise RX port improves sensitivity to a whole new level. Specifically in over-the-air (OTA) environments low power measurements are critical elements of any measurement campaign. It is even possible to reduce re-cabling by connecting both standard RF ports and the low noise input port in parallel. This simplifies measurement setups and speeds up workflows.

For best RF performance in TX and RX direction

Both downlink and uplink paths use separate local oscillators to ensure the best RF signal quality in the TX and RX directions. This concept leads to outstanding EVM performance while keeping unwanted spurious emissions extremely low. The R&S®CMXHEAD50 can use external LO signals for improved EVM. The R&S®CMXHEAD50-Evo goes beyond, featuring two integrated high-class synthesizers with extremely low phase noise. Together with the wide carrier bandwidth all major signaling scenarios are supported.
