Denver International Airport introduces the R&S QPS201 to its security screening checkpoints and US Airports

The Challenge

In 2016, Denver International Airport’s leadership embarked on the mission of transforming the Airport’s security screening checkpoints and passenger experience with new screening technology as part of its Great Hall project in the Jeppesen Terminal. Originally designed to accommodate 50 million passengers, the Jeppesen Terminal saw more than 78 million passengers in 2023 and the airport projects that passenger volumes will top 100 million in the near future.

The Solution

Denver’s airport leaders sought out innovative and high-performance security screening technologies for its future Great Hall checkpoints and identified Rohde & Schwarz QPS Ultra-high Definition (UHD) Advanced Imaging Technology (AIT) as a critical element to transform their passenger checkpoint security screening experience.

Working with TSA, Denver became the first U.S. airport to buy and deploy Rohde & Schwarz R&S®QPS201 systems and working with TSA in February 2024, the new Denver Great Hall West Checkpoint opened and is the largest deployment of R&S®QPS201 systems in the U.S. to date. Next year, in 2025, the Great Hall East Checkpoint will open, also fully equipped with R&S®QPS201 technology.
