New head of the Rohde & Schwarz naval competence center: Karsten Moeller

Karsten Moeller previously held various roles at thyssenkrupp Marine Systems; his most recent position was Head of Engineering. With him, Rohde & Schwarz has gained an experienced manager with extensive knowledge of the industry as well as many years of expertise in R&D. Among other things, Moeller will be responsible to further expand the Kiel location as a naval center of competence.

To intensify its traditionally close collaboration with the German Navy and the naval industry, Rohde & Schwarz has increasingly invested in its Kiel location. The technology company moved into a new facility in Wissenschaftspark Kiel (Kiel science park) in August last year. To establish Karsten Moeller as new head of the location is the next step in the strategic growth plan.

Moeller is looking forward to the challenge: “More than 40 navies around the world, already rely on the scalable, modular and adaptable solutions from Rohde & Schwarz. We now have to strategically position the naval center of competence to pursue current and future large-scale German projects as well as international naval projects. I want to tackle this challenge together with my team.”

Further expansion of workforce planned

Currently, around 70 employees work on complex, large-scale naval projects that focus mainly on system engineering, software development and integration of communications systems and electronic support measures for the self-protection of naval vessels. In the near future, Rohde & Schwarz plans to recruit further experts, particularly in the fields of system engineering and system/software development.

Moeller is convinced of the location’s attractiveness: „For me, the people at Rohde & Schwarz are characterized by passion for technology and system competence as well as customer focus at the same time. At Kiel location, we offer the work environment that allows our employees to turn their ideas into innovative system solutions for our customers.”
