Read out FM deviation with GPIB using FS-K7

Question

I want to use the FS-K7 FM demodulation option at 100 MHz with the FSP, FSU or FSQ.

How can I change to the analog demodulation function using GPIB commands, and how can I read out the deviation from the Frequency Modulation Summary display by means of GPIB?

Answer

It is possible to do that. You will find the GPIB commands in the FSP manual. The example below shows the GPIB sequence you need in order to activate the FM demodulation and read out the FM deviation. Please remember that there is a separate manual for FM demodulation.

FSP: *RST

FSP: SYST:DISP:UPD ON

FSP: FREQ:CENT 100MHZ

FSP: INIT:CONT OFF

REM The following command will change to FM demodulation personality

FSP: INST:SEL ADEM

REM A FM measurement will be initiated

FSP: CALC:FEED 'XTIM:FM'

FSP: INIT:IMM

FSP: *OPC?

REM The following commands will read out the results

FSP: CALC:MARK:FUNC:ADEM:FM:RES? PPE

FSP: CALC:MARK:FUNC:ADEM:FM:RES? MPE

FSP: CALC:MARK:FUNC:ADEM:FM:RES? MIDD

FSP: CALC:MARK:FUNC:ADEM:FM:RES? RMS
