Audio Quality Testing

A wide variety of measurements are performed in audio engineering in order to ensure the transmission quality of analog and digital devices. An audio analyzer suitable for all these tasks will, therefore, incorporate a multitude of functions, resulting in a correspondingly large number of settings.
Acoustic measurements on mobile devices
The acoustic transmission and reproduction quality of a mobile device is the most important task in daily use. Therefore, this quality must be checked as part of quality assurance or sample checks during production, as well as for type approval.
The R&S®UPV audio analyzer determines the acoustic characteristics of these mobile devices as specified in the type approval of mobile devices by the bodies responsible for acoustic tests. The tests are checked and validated by an independent test house.
Product for Audio Quality Testing
-
R&S®UPV Audio Analyzer
- Simultaneous display of multiple measurement functions
- PESQ® measurement for analyzing speech signals in line with psychoacoustic methods
- POLQA® measurement for analyzing broadband speech quality in line with psychoacoustic methods
-
This white paper summarizes the technology options for supporting voice and short message service (SMS) in LTE, including circuit switched fallback (CSFB), SMS over SGs, and voice over LTE (VoLTE).
-
This application note and associated application software may be used to conduct psychoacoustic speech quality evaluation for Voice over LTE (VoLTE) connections. The measurements are based on recommendations ITU-T P.862 and ITU-T P.863, respectively.
-
This white paper describes the POLQA® algorithm implemented in the R&S®UPV Audio Analyzer and shows an example hardware setup for standard independent audio measurements.
-
This application note provides an application program for level alignment, test automation and reporting with PESQ, POLQA and delay measurements on the Audio Analyzer R&S®UPV or R&S®UPV66.
-
This application note gives background information about the psychoacoustic measurements PESQ® (Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality) and PEAQ® (Perceptual Evaluation of Audio Quality). It also describes how to perform these measurements using the Rohde & Schwarz Audio Analyzer.
