Calibration kit conversion HP to R&S

Question

How can we make a conversion from HP calibration kits to R&S calibration parameters in ZVR, ZVC, ZVCE, ZVRE, ZVRL?

Answer

HP uses the unit F/Hz for C0 to C3 and the unit ps for the delay.

ZVR however uses fF/GHz and mm for delay.

Loss is neglected.

Delay in ps (HP) will be converted to RS length as follows:

l = c/f or l = 3 * 10E8 * yy ps

C0(HP) = C0(RS)

C1(HP) * 0.001 = C1(RS)

C2(HP) * 0.001 = C2(RS)

C3(HP) * 0.001 = C3(RS)

Abbreviations:

F / Hz -----> Farad per Hertz

fF / GHz -----> Femto Farad per Giga Hertz

mm -----> Millimeter

ps -----> Picosecond

yy -----> Delay in ps

C0 ... C3 -----> Parameter

RS -----> Rohde & Schwarz

l -----> Length in mm

c -----> Speed of light (3 * 10E8 m/s)
