R&S CMX500 provides 5G NR Conformance and Network Operator Testing to Quality Assurance Industry

As 5G devices come to market, the new R&S CMX500 radio communication tester by T&M expert Rohde & Schwarz enables 5G NR testing for conformance test labs around the world with support for TDD & FDD RF, RRM, LBS, data performance, protocol conformance and network operator supplemental tests.

Designed for 5G NR signalling test in sub 6 GHz (FR1) and mmWave (FR2) frequency bands, the R&S CMX500 radio communication tester seamlessly integrates into existing Rohde & Schwarz test systems.

The modular and scalable hardware architecture simplifies testing for manufacturers and developers striving to advance 5G infrastructure and develop devices based on 5G technology. The R&S CMX500 radio communication tester will enable leading Total Quality Assurance provider Intertek, as well as broader conformance test labs, to comprehensively test the signaling, RF parameters and data throughput rates of simultaneous LTE/5G connections in dual connectivity mode.

Existing test solutions built upon the R&S CMW500 by Rohde & Schwarz can be cost-effectively extended to support 5G NR FR1 standalone (SA) and NSA, TDD and FDD modes, with the simple addition of an R&S CMX500. Leveraging the feature-rich R&S CMW500 is critical because 5G devices must also pass LTE, WLAN and Bluetooth® low energy (LE) tests. LTE Release 14 and 15, 1024QAM, WLAN 802.11ax signaling, BLE 4.2 and 5.0 signaling, and more are features recently added to the R&S CMW500 software.
