The R&S®TSMx6 is a future-proof hardware platform, which can be easily upgraded to upcoming 5GNR sub 6 GHz and mm wave measurements via an in-field upgrade. It is ready to control additional hardware (R&S®TSME30DC/R&S®TSME44DC) which is required to measure in mm-wave frequency bands for a simplified measurement setup and reduced measurement setup time.

Automatic channel detection (ACD)

Detect all bands and technologies automatically

The R&S®TSMx detects active channels in a specified band. 5GNR, LTE, UMTS, CDMA2000®/1xEV-DO and NB-IoT networks are supported. This feature can be optionally enhanced by a spectrum scan that significantly speeds up the detection process. In this mode, channel lists no longer have to be set up before a measurement campaign. The measurement system dynamically identifies new channels and adds them to the workspace during the test drive.

5G PE: BTS position estimation

Automatically estimate the position of the cells in all networks

During a drive test, R&S®ROMES can use the measurement data and GPS data delivered by the R&S®TSMx to estimate the geographic position of the base stations. This calculation is fast and accurate. GSM, WCDMA, LTE, 5G NR, CDMA2000®/1xEVDO and TETRA networks are supported in parallel. This unique feature enables users to quickly generate a base station list for export or graphic display.

BTS position estimation

Dynamic Spectrum Sharing support

Dynamic Spectrum Sharing between 5G NR and LTE helps operators to rapidly deploy 5G NR and use their spectrum even more efficiently. This puts additional requirements on receivers. The R&S®TSMx6 receivers are ready for identifying and for measuring accurately on such carriers.

Network synchronization measurements

Network synchronization in the time domain becomes even more important with the introduction of 5G NR in TDD mode. Perfectly synchronized networks in the time domain show better performance because they do not suffer from overlapping uplink and downlink time slots. R&S®TSMx6 drive and walk test scanners are able to measure the time of arrival offset between the PPS pulse (or the internal receiver clock) and the received signal sequences from 5G NR and LTE to determine the quality of network synchronization.

EMF measurements

EMF (electromagnetic field strength) measurements are the basis to prove that the electromagnetic radiation is below the thresholds defined by the regulator. With the usage of new frequency bands and technical features like beamforming in 5G NR, EMF measurements become even more important. The R&S®TSMA6 controlled by an QualiPoc Android device is able to perform EMF measurements on 5G NR synchronization blocks for further country-specific extrapolation and total EMF calculation.

NB-IoT/Cat NB1 and LTE-M / Cat M1 support

Get all information from the NB IoT network without a UE

R&S®TSMx scanners can measure NB-IoT/Cat NB1 and LTE-M / Cat M1 networks. NB-IoT/Cat NB1 and LTE-M / Cat M1 are 3GPP standards for connecting a huge number of things to the Internet (IoT). NB-IoT and LTE-M measurements can be run simultaneously with measurements of other technologies such as GSM, LTE, (W)CDMA (with the appropriate R&S®TSME option). For optimization or in case of troubleshooting, the impact of NB-IoT and LTE-M spectrum on adjacent GSM/LTE/(W)CDMA spectrum and vice versa can be validated.
