Next Step for the CDMA2000® 1X Voice Capacity Improvements is 1X Advanced.

CDMA2000® already offers excellent voice and mobile broadband solutions through CDMA2000® 1X and EV-DO, however carriers worldwide are looking for the further improvements in data rates and voice capacity.

1X Advanced is the CDMA solution developed to increase voice capacity by 3 to 4 times and use freed up spectrum for the EV-DO Rev. B multicarrier solution or other wideband high order modulation schemes, like LTE. LTE may be overlaid on the EV-DO/1X network and seamless interoperability to be supported from day one. Hence, LTE/3G multimode devices will play an important role in the commercialization of the LTE.

1X Advanced builds on the proven CDMA2000® 1X technology platform and leverages interference cancellation, radio link enhancements and mobile receive diversity to provide an unprecedented four-fold increase in capacity over the majority of today’s 1X networks. The transition to 1X Advanced has the advantage of being an incremental and economical upgrade.

1X Advanced offers up to 3X voice capacity improvements or up to 70% increase in coverage by utilizing following:

  • EVRC-B (SO68), EVRC-NW (SO73)
  • QLIC (device IC)
  • RLIC (BTS IC)
  • Radio link enhancements (efficient power control, smart blanking of 1/8 frames, early termination, interference cancellation, use of quasi orthogonal function)
  • Up to 4x voice capacity improvement with mobile RX diversity and RLIC – reverse link interference cancellation

Operators can transition to full 1X Advanced gradually – with software and hardware updates.

Free up spectrum for the other advanced technologies (LTE, EV-DO Rev. B)
