Os sistemas avançados de assistência à condução (ADAS) desempenharão um papel cada vez mais importante na segurança e no conforto da condução. Estes sistemas podem salvar vidas, mas qualquer pequeno erro pode fazer com que uma situação seja avaliada incorrectamente. Devido à complexidade das diferentes tecnologias utilizadas, incluindo radar, conectividade, comunicações V2X e chamadas de emergência, é necessário realizar testes abrangentes para comprovar a funcionalidade correcta com a máxima segurança.

Da mesma forma, a crescente popularidade dos serviços móveis exige intercompatibilidade e interoperabilidade das diferentes tecnologias utilizadas nos veículos para garantir que as expectativas dos consumidores sejam atendidas. Para alcançar uma condução totalmente autónoma, as comunicações entre veículos e qualquer elemento (V2X, V2V, V2I) terão um papel fundamental.

Dentro de um carro típico, existem mais de 100 unidades de controlo electrónico (ECUs) que controlam desde travões, transmissão, motor, A/C, direcção, câmaras, radar, sensores acústicos, até comunicações sem fio dentro e fora da rede móvel. Estas unidades de controle electrónico (ECU) instaladas em veículos conectam-se através de diferentes redes. Estas redes são utilizadas para trocar informações e coordenar o controlo. Para verificar a funcionalidade e a qualidade desses fluxos de dados, os engenheiros da indústria automotive devem ser capazes de descodificar e pesquisar estes sinais, bem como medir a diafonia. A Ethernet é utilizada em redes automotive para permitir comunicações de dados rápidas e baratas. O sector automotive criou a camada física OPEN Alliance BroadRReach® (OABR) como padrão de comunicação Ethernet.

ADAS - Innovations in Automotive Radar testing.
Automotive radars are usually mounted behind bumpers or design radomes, which can have a massive impact on the signal quality. The QAR provides a unique, yet powerful way to make the influence of these parts visible by measuring the inhomogeinity of the reflectivity of this parts. The capability to penetrate plastic material can also be used to analyze the mounting accuracy of parts placed behind the bumper (e.g. radar or ultrasound sensors).

Present and Future of Automotive Testing – A System Integrator View.
Stimulated by the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) modern vehicle development expands to include more and more sophisticated systems, such as automatic emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control (ACC) and lane-change assistance (LCA), mostly solved by Radar technology operating in the 77-81GHz band. On the other side, the complexity of in-vehicle electronics is being driven by an ever-expanding array of functionalities, ranging from driver safety to infotainment systems and connectivity. This presentation will overview some of the automotive market trends and discuss how a system integrator is seeing the perspectives for modernized testing requirements as the next challenge for its operation. Practical examples include infotainment testing, in-vehicle sensing emulation and radar unit’s validation.

As the wireless network evolves we will see advances in the types of use case available to the automotive industry.
Initially we had wireless connections for concierge services and updated map information, but we are rapidly moving towards a future where vehicles will exchange information with the world around them.
Vehicle-to-Everything Communications for everything from safety messages exchange between vehicles, interactions with pedestrians and the infrastructure, sending automatic emergency call with health sensor data in case of an accident up to real-time Over-the-air software updates becomes reality.

Automotive Radar - AREG. EoL Target Generator.
Automotive radar sensors are essential components of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Due to this and the strong trend towards more and more autonomously driving cars, the number of radar-based systems per car is increasing. This means there are more sensors on the road, leading to the need for reliable testing in radar sensor during validation as well as mass production. Developed in close cooperation with the auto industry, the R&S®AREG100A meets all automotive industry requirements regarding a reproducible, reliable and stable operation.

Automotive Ethernet – The future for in-vehicle networks.
Autonomous driving applications require much higher data rates to transfer information within the vehicle network. With current bus technologies, this is not possible. Automotive Ethernet was introduced to solve this problem. During this presentation, we will talk about the evolution of Automotive Ethernet for in-vehicle networks as well as share our insights on what future vehicle architecture might look like in the next 5 years.
