Open an exiting Test and add a new Limit Line

I am using Test Receiver with EMC32. I would like to open an exiting Test and add a new Limit Line to this Test for further evaluation. Is it possible to do

this?

Answer

Yes, you can do this.

Limit have to be available in EMC32 database, otherwise Limit have to be added to EMC32, first.

As soon as the limit is available, the procedure is the following:

- Open the exiting Test from EMC32 Explorer

- Click into the Graphic with right Mouse button.

- Select "New Trace" => "From Table"

Open an exiting Test and add a new Limit Line

- Select the new Limit you would like to add.

- Select Trace Style you would like to have.

The new Limit will be shown in the Graphic. After this you may run a new Peak Search for the new Limit.This can be done with the EMI Evaluation:

- From menu bar, select „Test“ => „EMI Analysis“

- Choose an Evaluation Function, e.g „Peak Search“

- For the Input, select the right Result Table for Evaluation

- set „Relative Threshold Level“

- Give a table name for the output and click "Ok"

For the output file, you may run further EMI Analysis functions, e.g. Acceptance Analysis based on the new Limit Line. This will give you a new output file.

Now, you can add the Result Table with the critical frequencies to the exiting Graphic.

This can be done by Drag & Drop or with right Mouse button => "New Trace" => "From this Test"

and select the Trace Style you would like to have for your new critical frequencies.

Please keep in mind, if the DUT is no longer available and the new limit is a stronger limit than before, the evaluation finds new peaks, which should be measured with CISPR detectors.

In such cases, a test receiver with the option "Time Domain Scan" is useful . Thanks to the great speed advantage it is possible to perform a Time Domain Scan over the full frequency range with CISPR detector. If maximazation is not needed (no adjustment of EMC accessories), it is not needed to do final measurements with DUT, again
