At the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Sam is responsible as the Chief Technology and Innovation Officer (CTIO) over the Commission's technology, innovation vision and strategies execution for growth whilst focusing on improving technological advancement. He had bootstrapped start-ups, drives corporate innovation, a regular public speaker and gained recognition with innovation awards of IDC, APICTA and iAwards. He holds a Research Masters and Engineering Degree from University of Melbourne, Australia.

Peter has been working in the field of RF test & measurement for 24 years and has been involved in mobile network optimization from the beginning. He started his career as a service and application engineer in the German Rohde & Schwarz sales organization and then moved on to work in the Rohde & Schwarz system department, handling production test systems for mobile network equipment. He was also responsible for sales in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia. Peter holds a graduate engineering degree in communications technology from the Hamburg University of Applied Science.

Dr Shamsuzzoha is acting as the Deputy Director at the Engineering & Operations Division of BTRC and is responsible for the QoS monitoring and management issues as well as EMF radiation, numbering plan and technical policy issues. He is the focal point for telecom data and statistics. A telecommunication engineer by profession, he has higher study and research work in public policy, specially in the field of operations research, applied micro-economics and industrial economics.

Prepare a robust 5G NR spectrum for deployment

Interference Hunting continues to play a critical role in ensuring the quality and performance of mobile networks. Different from 4G/LTE, the general complexity of 5G deployments have created some new challenges when it comes to identifying and removing network interference. External interference issues at C-band/band n78 is still a lingering issue in some countries. In addition, the emergence of private 5G brings forth new stakeholders with more demanding performance and quality requirements. Find out what are the new technique and tools for Interference Hunting in 5G networks.

How network testing ensures 5G network performance

With the emergence of 5G, deployment of public and private networks for manufacturing, industrial applications and wide range of other uses is taking off. Business-critical use cases, such as flexible, efficient and productive factories are enabled by the capacity, speed and reactivity of 5G and now also 5G SA. We will present how 5G networks can be evaluated by passive and active network tests as a basis for network optimization and to ensure performance with demanding requirements. Critical topics such as synchronization test and EMF/OHS will also be discussed.

Revealing the real insights of network quality

Whenever we make comparison, we always want to ensure that it’s a fair one. We should also follow this principle when comparing the quality of different mobile networks (network benchmarking) to make a valid evaluation. This presentation explains the transparent and scalable benchmarking methodology defined and ratified by the international standards body ETSI in a Technical Report that can be used domestically and globally. We will also discuss how 5G influenced the approach of network testing.

Four phases of the holistic 5G network optimization

5G networks are complex and reaching the intended performance after deployment is not easy. Network optimization starts after deployment and it is an ongoing process dealing with ad-hoc trouble tickets and continuous data collection and analysis.
