How to generate separate graphics for the horizontal and vertical result using EMC32-EB

Question

With EMC32, I would like to do a radiated measurement with more than one subrange for antenne change. The Test should automatically generate separate graphics for the horizontal and vertical result.

I would like to measure each subrange with one polarisation only. Is EMC32 applicable to do this?

To do this, you have to define a corresponding Hardware Setup first. On generating a new Hardware Setup, the first frequency tab is generated by default. If the Device List contains only one device of a certain type to be used in the Hardware Setup, this device is selected automatically. A new tab (and a new frequency range) can be added by clicking on the button "Add Subrange". The frequency range of the current tab can be modified clicking on the button Modify Freqs. The frequency ranges must be contiguous, no frequency gaps are allowed. If the device list contains more than one device of a certain type to be used (in your case you have to have more than one Antenna in your Device List), you may change it for each subrange with a simple click in the corresponding icon in the Hardware Setup structure.

After saving the Hardware Setup file, it is available for your EMI Test Template. This have to be defined to run your Test, because the software requires information about the Receiver settings in the wanted frequency ranges. These settings typically depend on the standard to which the EUT should be tested.

If you would like to have a Test and show separate graphics for horizontal / vertical polarization, you have to enable this feature with the corresponding check box in the Graphics tab of the Test Template. If activated the measurement algorithm will automatically generate separate graphics for the horizontal and vertical result. After a scan / sweep is completed the measurement trace is automatically merged to the graphics corresponding to the current antenna polarization.

Please keep in mind, that this option is only available for EMI Scan and it is not evaluated when running an EMI Auto Test with the EMC32-K10 option.

Addtionally you have to add an Action named "Notifiy User" to the Test Template, at the beginning of each Subrange. With this Action the user will be notified with a user defined massage as soon as the selected event occurs. Test execution will be halted until the user closes this windows. This will help you for the interactive change of polarization at the beginning of the particular subrange.

After this you are able to start a new EMI Test based on the previously defined Test Template. With a "New Test" the measurement mode is activated and the control elements for the start of the measurement are automatically displayed.

Now, with the Interactive Device Control you can change the polarization to the wanted position.

and start the Test from Test Control Toolbar to continue with the scan / sweep of the first subrange. At the beginning of the next subrange, the Test will be stopped with one of the user defined massages.

If you want to change polarization for the next subrange, you can stop the test to have access to the Interactive Device Control. As soon as the antenna changes are done, you can proceed the scan / sweep until the end of the next subrange is reached..Continue in the same way until the End of the Test. At the end of the Test, EMC32 will show the Graphics "Electric Field Strenght - Horizontal" and "Electric Field Stenght - Vertical" with all wanted test results for each subrange.
