Measure the impossible

FSWX signal and spectrum analyzer

In today’s fast-paced technological landscape, reliable and efficient signal analysis solutions must transcend limits and overcome the constraints of traditional measurement methods. The cutting-edge multipath FSWX architecture brings a new level of performance and precision to signal analysis.  Applying preselection suppresses inherent noise and spurious signals and minimizes unwanted artifacts to make sure FSWX accurately captures and analyzes the true characteristics of the signal under test.

Features & benefits

Multiple input ports

Phase coherent capture at the same or different frequencies

Being able to capture wideband, modulated phase-coherent signals at the same or different frequencies opens up new measurement scenarios. The FSWX is the first multichannel signal and spectrum analyzer to do so.

  • Compare amplifier or mixer output signal with the modulated reference signal from the input
  • Easily measure the phase relation between individual antennas of a beamforming radar or a MIMO communications system
  • Simultaneous capture at different frequencies in electronic warfare scenarios with DRFM or radar transmitters for improved threat detection capabilities.

Multiple input ports enable phase coherent capture. The example shows a comparison of the amplitude and phase of two phased array antenna ports as well as group delay.

Cross-correlation

Measure noise level down to the physical limit

The FSWX is the first signal and spectrum analyzer with cross-correlation. Cross-correlation cancels the inherent noise of the analyzer and gives a clear view on the device under test. Cross correlation lets you push the noise level down to the physical limit for the higher dynamic range in noise, phase noise and EVM measurements or spur searches. Benefits include:

  • Unprecedented sensitivity
  • Lowest possible phase noise
  • Widest dynamic range
  • Best EVM
  • Unmatched level accuracy at low power levels

Cross-correlation eliminates the inherent analyzer noise and provides an unobstructed view of the signal. Without cross-correlation, the spectrum re-growth of the amplifier under test would not be visible here.

Wideband ADCs

Up to 8 GHz analysis bandwidth

The FSWX has been designed as a wide bandwidth instrument. Each analog signal path is terminated by high-resolution, high-speed ADCs with 8 GHz of analysis bandwidth. This concept includes:

  • Full analysis BW at all input frequencies
  • Highest sweep speed in spectrum mode
  • High dynamic range for EVM measurements and spur search

Filter banks

Default filter banks with optional YIG preselector

The FSWX features filter banks with independent highpass and lowpass filters across the whole instrument frequency range. Benefits of filter banks vs swept preselection filters include:

  • Highest level accuracy across the entire frequency range
  • Preselected I/Q analysis. Signals at other frequencies are rejected and do not fold as image into the frequency range of interest
  • Fastest sweep speed
YIG filters are available as an option for greatest dynamic range demands.
