The Rohde & Schwarz Australia Chief Technical Authority (Chief Engineer) (CTA) is responsible for the Technical Governance of projects, campaigns and activities conducted by the Capability Delivery and Sustainment (CDS) team by conducting governance and assurance of technical activities. The governance and assurance is independent of the delivery organisation and is provided through a Delegated Technical Authority (DTA) assigned to the program or domain. The DTAs form the Office of the Chief Technical Authority. The CTA develops and assists the Head of Engineering & Technology (HoET) in deploying and continuously improving engineering process and practices that allow the Capability, Delivery and Sustainment (CDS) to develop and deploy superior integrated solutions.

Your tasks

  • The purpose of the role is to provide an independent technical governance & assurance reporting route / mechanism to Delegated Technical Authorities who are deployed within the CDS Program Teams with the mandate to ensure that CDS Projects and products provide solutions that are:
  • Aligned with Customer expectations;
  • Generated by appropriately qualified and experienced staff;
  • Appropriately reviewed;
  • Appropriately approved and certified by undertaking these activities as applicable;
  • Compliant with applicable Company Procedures; and
  • Compliant with applicable Legislative or customer Technical regulatory Frameworks. The CTA:
  • Works closely and collaboratively with the Head of Programs (Navy and ATC/AD), Head of Engineering & Technology and Head of Bids & Proposals to deliver the CDS responsibilities
  • Provides in-depth subject matter expertise to support business needs
  • Holds Delegation of Technical Authority for the business and allocation of delegations of Technical Authority within the business
  • Provides, with the support of the HoET, the development and continuous improvement of engineering process and tools.
  • Develop and improve high level stakeholder relationships this includes internal and external customers

Your qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering, qualifications in Electrical/Electronics/Radio/Telecommunications,
  • Demonstrable evidence of working complex ASDEFCON (or similar) Programs employing Technical regulatory frameworks
  • Strong understanding of technical aspects of projects in AUS NZ and preferably within a Defence or high end safety / mission critical engineering solution dominant markets
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and other bid/proposal related tools
  • Experience in working on international E&T programs and bids are an advantage
  • Australian Citizen
  • Current Australian Defence Security Clearance
  • Eligible to access/handle export-controlled technology, data and information
  • Eligible to obtain Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with Engineers Australia.
  • Eligible to obtain registration with the National Engineering Register (NER)
  • Eligible to obtain registration with the relevant state engineering authority
