ZNB - several channels with external trigger

Question

We are doing measurements with more than one channel. How is the behaviour of the ZNB when an external trigger signal is used?

Are the measurements of the channels be processed sequential with just one trigger signal?

Answer

That depends from the trigger settings. For each channel the trigger can be configured seqerately.

Here are two examples:

CH1: Trigger is set to "External" with a delay of 500 ms

CH2: Trigger is set to "Free RUN"

At such a combination the ZNB will start the measurement at CH1 500 ms after an external trigger signal has been detected. The measurement at CH2 will start immediately after CH1 is finished. Then the ZNB waits for the next trigger signal.

CH1: Trigger is set to "External" with a delay of 500 ms

CH2: Trigger is set to "External" with a delay of 200 ms

In that case the ZNB will start the measurement at CH1 500 ms after an external trigger signal has been detected.

Then the ZNB waits for the next trigger signal. 200 ms after it has been detected the measurement at CH2 starts.

Then the ZNB waits for the next trigger signal.
