Past decades have seen tremendous development of mobile technologies. Each new generation has seen significant changes in the underlying technologies and methods in the aim of providing more reliable and efficient communications. 5G NR is much more than just a new radio, it paves the way for innovative new services like eMBB, mMTC or URLLC with its flexible radio interface and new infrastructure concepts like network slicing.

In this seminar, we will provide an overview of the 5G NR physical layer, and the role its flexible infrastructure and procedures plays in delivering an excellent quality of service across diversified services and applications. And along with the new paradigm that 5G NR technology introduces, we will also introduce the latest and best methods for testing 5G NR devices, components and base stations.

Meet the speakers

Reiner Stuhlfauth

Reiner Stuhlfauth, Technology Manager Wireless

is a Technology Marketing Manager working in the market segment Wireless of Rohde & Schwarz in Munich. He is responsible for teaching and promoting mobile communication technologies, especially cellular standards like: GSM, (E)GPRS, UMTS, HSPA, LTE, LTE-Advanced and 5G NR, but also non-cellular technologies such as WLAN and Bluetooth.

He is also involved in a number of projects concerning 5G, the next mobile communication technology. In his role, he links development and sales organisations to coordinate implementation of technical features into R&S instruments and interactively discusses new requirements with R&S customers.

Reiner is one of a group of authors within R&S who have published a technology book on 5G NR: “5G New Radio - Fundamentals, procedures, testing aspects”.
