Rohde & Schwarz UK Ltd – Commitment to Carbon Net Zero by 2050

Rohde & Schwarz UK Ltd (R&S) recognises that climate stability underpins the security, innovation and economic prosperity on which our customers, partners and employees rely. As a technology leader in test and measurement, secure communications and electronic warfare, we have a responsibility to embed sustainability into every facet of our business and to contribute decisively to the United Kingdom's legally binding target of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Our ambition is three fold:

1. Science Based Targets – By 2023 we secured approval from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for a 30 % reduction in Scope 1 + 2 emissions by 2030, a trajectory that aligns with the 1.5 °C pathway and forms the foundation for our 2050 net zero goal.

2. Decarbonising Operations – Over the next decades we will transition all UK sites to 100 % renewable electricity through power purchase agreements and on site solar generation, replace fossil fuel heating with air source heat pumps, and electrify our light vehicle fleet. Smart metering, advanced building management systems and AI driven energy analytics will ensure that every kilowatt hour is used efficiently.

3. Low Carbon Value Chain – We are embedding carbon intensity criteria into procurement contracts, demanding science based targets from our Tier 1 suppliers, and collaborating with customers to design products that enable greener test and measurement solutions. Circular economy principles will drive product as a service models, extending product lifetimes and reducing waste.

Progress will be transparent. Annual CDP disclosures, third party assurance of our GHG inventory and a publicly available carbon performance dashboard will allow stakeholders to track our journey in real time. The Board has approved an internal carbon price to ensure that low carbon options are financially favoured in every investment decision.
