Rohde & Schwarz, a world leader for innovative communications, information and security products for professional users, announced today that R&S QPS 201 advanced imaging technology systems were sold to and installed in Canada at a high security facility to provide high performance and high volume screening of its employees and visitors to sensitive areas of the building and entrance.

“We were proud that the first R&S QPS 201 systems to be deployed in Canada will protect this important high security facility, its important public mission and employees.” said Scott Bausback, President and CEO of Rohde & Schwarz USA, Inc. “We developed the QPS 201 to deliver the most advanced people screening technology to guard critical infrastructure, high security buildings, airports, high value manufacturing and other applications against concealed threats and to prevent loss and theft.”

“In addition to the QPS 201 and its capabilities, the systems were integrated with walk through metal detection technology to improve security screening and efficiencies by combining the two orthogonal technologies,” said Luke Olsen, Manager of Emerging Technologies for Rohde & Schwarz USA, Inc. “The integrated systems installed display alarm results from both systems on one screen.”

The R&S QPS 201 has been certified by the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) and the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and quickly screens people for threats, contraband and other objects concealed under clothing. Deployed globally since 2015, R&S QPS scanners are flat panel solid-state millimeter wave imaging systems that are safe and rapidly scan people (less than 3 seconds) at security checkpoints. Because the QPS is fully electronic and has no moving parts, the systems require minimal maintenance time and expense and offer an attractive total cost of ownership and unmatched efficiency, making it the leader in this space. The QPS 201’s compact footprint allows easy installation in restricted security screening checkpoints and entrances.
