Rohde & Schwarz, a global Test and Measurement company headquartered in Munich, Germany, is looking for an Assistant Controller. This position will be based in our US headquarters in Columbia, Maryland and does require occasional in-office work. Candidates must live in the greater Baltimore metropolitan area.

Your tasks

  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting and integrity of financial data
  • Review monthly schedules, analysis and reconciliations of key financial accounts, including the submission of financial results to worldwide headquarters
  • Be responsible for the timely and accurate completion of the monthly close process including a detailed close calendar and responsibility matrix
  • Lead monthly balance sheet and P&L review meetings, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures and understanding key business drivers that impact financial results
  • Review monthly financial statements, flux reports and supporting information submitted by subs for completeness, accuracy and compliance with U.S. GAAP
  • Function as a technical resource for accounting matters
  • Drive development, adherence and maintenance of internal control processes
  • Coordinate and participate in both annual external and internal audits
  • Integrate LEAN concepts into team work processes.
  • Train, mentor, and facilitate growth of introductory level members of the team
  • Create missing procedures as needed and keep essential function procedures current and accurate
  • Generate written policies and procedures to ensure division compliance with FAR/CAS/GAAP and maintain the divisional disclosure statement
  • Provide training to non-financial personnel on internal control compliance, accounting procedures and financial statement review

Your qualifications

  • BS in Accounting. CPA/MBA preferred
  • 7+ years of combined public and private accounting experience
  • Experience with SAP with a focus on FI and CO along with basic understanding of MM, SD, CS
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to investigate and resolve problems
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions
  • Must be proficient with MS Office (Powerpoint, Word, Excel)
  • Must be a strong communicator with the ability to effectively present financial information to a variety of audiences
  • Flexible to work non-traditional hours, overtime, weekends and travel on occasion
  • Unquestionable integrity and personal ethics
  • Ability to listen, negotiate, guide and facilitate
  • Ability to lead and operate effectively in a team-oriented business

The total compensation for this position is $105K-$160K. Total compensation includes base salary, variable pay (when applicable) plus benefits. The range is determined by the position, geographic location and level. Individual pay within the range is determined by several factors including location, education or training, relevant work history, sales incentive structure and job-related skills.
