Subject
Electronics modules often have many functional units in tight spaces. Interference between units must be minimized in the design phase. EMI detection should start as soon as possible to avoid unpleasant surprises during later conformance testing. At the same time, ambient wireless communication signals can impair the proper operation of circuitry.
This course covers typical EMC issues and uses oscilloscopes to detect disturbances. The course also examines differences to classic RF equipment such as spectrum analyzers, or measurement receivers.
Content
Disturbance mechanisms
Signal shape and EMI
Signal routing on circuit boards
Power distribution on modules
RF disturbances
Measurement equipment for fault detection and analysis
