R&S®TSMx is the product family for state-of-the-art drive test and walk test scanners. R&S®TSMx products passively capture data from the air interface, offering a pure and accurate view of the RF performance and MIB/SIB/Layer 3 messages of the most popular technologies without needing to subscribe to network services.

NB-IoT/Cat NB1 support

Get all information from the NB IoT network without a UE

R&S®TSMx scanners can measure NB-IoT/Cat NB1 networks. NB-IoT/Cat NB1 is a 3GPP standard for connecting a huge number of things to the Internet (IoT). NB-IoT measurements can be run simultaneously with measurements of other technologies such as GSM, LTE, (W)CDMA (with the appropriate R&S®TSME option). For optimization or in case of troubleshooting, the impact of NB-IoT spectrum on adjacent GSM/LTE/(W)CDMA spectrum and vice versa can be validated.

Automatic channel detection (ACD)

Detect all bands and technologies automatically

The R&S®TSMx detects active channels in a specified band. LTE, UMTS, CDMA2000®/1xEV-DO and NB-IoT networks are supported. This feature can be optionally enhanced by a spectrum scan that significantly speeds up the detection process. In this mode, channel lists no longer have to be set up before a measurement campaign. The measurement system dynamically identifies new channels and adds them to the workspace during the test drive.

LTE uplink and downlink allocation analysis

Find out how many users are in a cell and how much they are using the network over the air

The R&S®TSMx scanners offer a unique feature that allows analysis of the LTE uplink and downlink allocations of the strongest eNodeBs during measurement. Information includes the number of RNTIs (UEs) that have been scheduled data by the eNodeB, the MCS and throughput for each detected UE, and the occupation of the cell. The data can be statistically evaluated to assess the overall load of the cell in terms of throughput and number of users.

BTS position estimation

Automatically estimate the position of the cells in all networks

During a drive test, R&S®ROMES can use the measurement data and GPS data delivered by the R&S®TSMx to estimate the geographic position of the base stations. This calculation is fast and accurate. GSM, WCDMA, LTE, CDMA2000®/1xEVDO and TETRA networks are supported in parallel. This unique feature enables users to quickly generate a base station list for export or graphic display.

The R&S®TSME6 is a future-proof hardware platform, which can be easily upgraded to upcoming 5GNR sub 6 GHz and mm wave measurements via an in-field upgrade. It is ready to control additional hardware which is required to measure in mm-wave frequency bands for a simplified measurement setup and reduced measurement setup time.
