Automotive Ethernet and other bus systems

Inside a typical car, you will find over 100 electronic control units (ECU) controlling everything from brakes, transmission, engine, A/C, steering, cameras, radar, acoustic sensors to the non-cellular and cellular wireless communications.

ECUs talk to each other via car buses, including controller area network (CAN), media oriented systems transport (MOST), local interconnect network (LIN) and FlexRay.

Automotive OEMs and Tier 1s are moving away from mixing so many different bus types to something more uniform, enabling higher data throughput, lower latency and less weight in order to reduce complexibility and increase cost-efficiency.

MultiGig Automotive Ethernet compliance test K88 support

The R&S®RTO-K88 (up to 2.5G) and R&S®RTP-K88 options offer an automated compliance test solution for MultiGBASE-T1 according to the IEEE 802.3ch specification. The test wizard of the R&S®ScopeSuite compliance test software guides the user via illustrated step-by-step instructions. Automatic test sequences allow for a fast run. A comprehensive test report documents all the results including screenshots. The complete test solution requires the R&S®RT-ZF7A test fixture and a compatible vector network analyser.

The first trigger and decode solution for 1000BASE-T1 automotive Ethernet

With the new K58 option for its oscillosopces R&S®RTO and R&S®RTP, Rohde & Schwarz launches the world's first triggering and decoding solutions for 1000BASE-T1, further extending its leading position in test solutions for automotive. Similar to the existing 100BASE-T1 or CAN bus analysis and decode capability, OEMs and Tier1 suppliers now have the possibility to analyse and decode the latest bus speeds at the leading edge of automotive digital design.

R&S®RT-ZF8 automotive Ethernet compliance fixture

The RT-ZF8 fixture provides all necessary connections for testing the physical layer of automotive Ethernet standards 100BASE-T1 and 1000BASE-T1

The fixture is used in combination with the R&S®RTO and R&S®RTP oscilloscopes, the R&S®ScopeSuite software and automotive Ethernet options (R&S®RTO-K24, R&S®RTP-K24, R&S®RTO-K87, R&S®RTP-K87).

R&S®RT-ZF7 automotive Ethernet trigger and decode fixture

The RT-ZF7 fixture is intended to be used for probing an automotive Ethernet signal (e.g. 100BASE-T1 or 1000BASE-T1). Full duplex connections can be probed on separated directions.

The fixture is used in combination with the R&S®RTO and R&S®RTP oscilloscopes and automotive Ethernet options (R&S®RTO-K57 and R&S®RTP-K57).
